• The Shortlist

    Expert venue research, professionally curated.
So you can stop searching and start planning.

You have a retreat to plan. You don't have time to find the right space for it.

You know what kind of experience you want to create. You can picture the light in the morning, the layout that allows for movement and stillness, the energy of the place.

What you don't have is the hours, the contacts, or the insider knowledge to find a venue that actually delivers on that vision - within your budget, on your dates, without the back-and-forth that eats up weeks.

Venue searching is the part of retreat planning that looks simple from the outside and costs you everything once you're in it.
Forty tabs open. Vague responses from properties that never quite answer your actual questions. Quotes that don't include what you assumed they would. Spaces that look right in photos and feel wrong in person. Availability that disappears while you're still weighing options.

And underneath all of it, the low-level anxiety of not knowing whether you're making the right call — because you've never done this at quite this scale, or in this location, or with this group in mind.

This is the part I do. Let me do it for you.

Does this sound familiar?

You've been sitting on a retreat idea for longer than you'd like to admit. Not because you don't believe in it, but because the venue piece keeps stopping you.

You've started searching. Maybe you've even reached out to a few places. But the research is sprawling, the options are overwhelming, and nothing quite fits. Or everything fits on paper but you can't tell what's real and what's just good photography.

You're spending time you don't have on a task that requires expertise you haven't built. And the longer it drags on, the further your retreat feels from actually happening.

You're not stuck because you lack vision. You're stuck because venue sourcing is a specialism — and you're trying to do it alone.

No more tabs. No more uncertainty. No more putting off the part that was always going to require expert eyes.

What changes when you hand this over

You send me your brief. I get to work.

Four to six weeks later, you have a curated shortlist of three venues — each one researched, contacted, vetted and matched to your specific event. Not a long list of possibilities. Not a shared folder of links. A professional proposal with availability confirmed, pricing broken down, key contract terms flagged, and a first draft budget for each scenario.

You also get a ticket pricing strategy — so you can see, clearly, what you need to charge for each venue option to make the numbers work.

Then we meet for 45 minutes to walk through it together. You ask your questions. I give you my recommendation, with the reasoning behind it.

You leave that call with a clear direction and the confidence to move forward.

Who you're working with

I'm Elena, the founder of Kenko. I've spent over a decade designing and delivering retreats across the world - working with yoga teachers, coaches, wellness brands, and teams who want to create experiences that actually work.

I've planned retreats that have sold out. I've also seen what happens when the foundations aren't right — the pricing that doesn't cover costs, the timelines that leave no room for error, the logistics that unravel. I know what makes the difference, and I built The Groundwork so you don't have to learn it the hard way.

This session is practical, direct, and built entirely around your situation. No templates applied blindly. No generic advice. Just clear thinking, honest feedback, and a concrete next step.

What’s included

Venue Brief

Before I begin, you complete a detailed questionnaire covering your event type, format, dates, group size, location preferences, budget range and non negotiable. This is what I use to do the research properly.

Full Venue Research & Outreach

I search, shortlist and contact venues on your behalf — drawing on my network, industry knowledge and direct relationships with properties across multiple markets.

Curated Proposal — 3 Shortlisted Venues

Each one comes with confirmed availability, clear pricing, key contract terms and everything you need to make an informed decision. This is a curated, expert selection — not a Google search.

First Draft Budget — Per Venue

So you can see the full financial picture of each option: not just the venue fee, but the costs that sit around it.

Ticket Pricing Strategy

For each scenario, I work out what you need to charge to cover costs and hit your target. Clear numbers, not guesswork.

My Recommendation

You get my professional view on which venue best serves your event — and why. This is not a disclaimer. It's a conclusion.

One 45-Minute Presentation Call

We go through the proposal together. You ask questions, I answer them. You leave with a direction.

Questions you might have

  • The Groundwork is a focused advisory session, not full project management. You leave with clarity, a plan, and the tools to move forward independently. If you later want hands-on support to design and deliver your retreat end to end, that's what Kenko's full service is for. This gets you started right.

  • Yes. Many clients choose to book The Plan and The Budget together. They're complementary: The Plan gives you direction, The Budget gives you the financial confidence to act on it. Each session stands alone, but together they give you the complete picture.

  • Not at all - this is actually the best time. Getting clarity before you've committed time and money is exactly what this session is designed for. You don't need a fully formed plan. You need an idea and a willingness to be honest about where you are.

  • That's fine. Come as you are. The pre-call questionnaire will help me understand your situation before we speak, so we can use the session to untangle what's not clear and focus on what matters most.

  • It's a 20-minute check-in call - not a second full session, but a chance to review what you've done since we spoke, address anything that's come up, and adjust the plan if needed. Think of it as a built-in accountability moment.

  • Yes. Sessions take place on Google Meets, so location isn't a barrier. Payment is in GBP. If you have questions about currency or timing, get in touch before booking.

  • If you're not sure your event is viable yet, start with The Plan. If you already know what you want to do but can't make the numbers work, start with The Budget. If you're genuinely unsure, reach out and I can help you decide.

The idea has been sitting there long enough. Let's give it a real plan.
